My name is Julia Ramos, known to friends as Juls. I’m a native New Yorker with a background originally in fine art. As a kid I found an escape in art. I've have been telling people I was going to grow up and be an artist since before I even really knew what that meant. It wasn't until high school that my horizons on what it meant to be an artist broadened and I fell in love with makeup artistry.
My fondest memories growing up involve movies. My parents made sure to educate me in all the classics and every new film was a new world to fall in love with. I was an anxious & easily frightened kid, so it must have been to everyone's surprise when my obsession with the work of Guillermo Del Toro began. Pan’s Labyrinth turned my world upside down; it was my first time grasping just how powerful makeup was, how completely it could transform someone into monsters unimaginable. To me these creatures were sometimes horrific, but always beautiful.
It’s a dream come true to have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the artists who inspired me. To not only see my creations on the big screen one day, but to know I could be to some child what these artists were to me.
